City Kids Debut
Wednesday night I was like a kid opening Christmas presents when I logged onto Facebook. One of my favorite photographers in the Twin Cities, Ashley Lynn Washburn finished editing the photos that my friends and I took this summer and I exploded with excitement. I actually cried.
I have worked with Ashley once before on a really sweet photo shoot with my girls Caroline and Larissa. The theme of this particular shoot was a fun and dreamy sleep over. Larissa, who had originally asked me and Caroline to do this shoot with her, wanted it to be really girly and playful and the shoot was exactly that. In between giggles and the sillies, our photographer Ashley captured some really amazing shots. As soon as I got a look at these photos I knew I wanted to work with her again.
I emailed her this summer and asked if she would be willing to work with me and my friends on a funkier playful type of shoot. I was really inspired by the insane amount of fun I was having with 3 in particular people in my life whom I was attached to every second of every hour this last summer. The theme of my summer had been long and hot days, 3AM nights, goofing off in public, singing at the top of our lungs, making dinner in our underwear and falling in love with both life and each other. If anything at all, I wanted to capture it for myself.
Ashley and I agreed on a contemporary spin on a vintage image of some twenty-somethings in 1970-something having the time of their lives. Candid shots, lots of laughs and really, what turned out was exactly what my reality had been this summer. All of the memories came flooding back to me and I laughed and cried looking at every picture as if I was there doing it all over again.
Ashley is getting ready to move with her husband down to Georgia but hopefully this wont be the last time I get to work with her. She and I recently discussed sneaking in a last minute beauty shoot before she goes. I'm really excited and I hope we get to do that! Be looking forward to that shoot PLUS bonus shots from outtakes of this shoot called "City Kids."
Shout out to Ashley Lynn Washburn.
