Over there, State Fair
This turned out to be quite the eventful little week. It's the start of a new month and I have my goals written out and ready to go. I love starting out my month with a list of things that I'd like to accomplish. I always feel great crossing things off from my list and I love holding myself accountable in my down time. Did you email that agent?, Have you scheduled your headshots?oh..which reminds me. I should get on that.
This week, along with a shoot I did for Schofferhoffer beer, I was at the State Fair representing the Children's Theatre. I, along with three wonderful gents had the pleasure of singing songs from The Wizard of Oz. I got to be Dorothy (yay). We did a cute, short fifteen minute excerpt from the show for seven days of the fair. It was really a lovely time even though it was about a million degrees.
Thursday I had a callback for "Leap of Faith" at Minnesota Musical Theatre. I had actually never heard of this show before I was invited to the callback so I obviously had to do a little bit of research. Leap of Faith was actually a movie first! Back in 1992 Steve Martin starred in a movie about a con artist preacher and his group traveling across the country taking advantage of religious people small towns and leaving before they know what hit them. (side bar, it was really difficult for me to type "back in 1992" because it doesn't feel like it's been over twenty years ago but apparently I'm a lot older than I remembered) The musical premiered in 2010 on broadway and closed shortly after. Such a bummer that the show didn't do very well on broadway because I think the plot of the show is really entertaining! Anyway, I went in on Thursday evening and I was blown away by the talented people at this callback. It's so much fun being in this business and in this community to see the skills that so many people carry with them.
Friday morning I found out that I was cast in the show. I will be playing Ornella in the MMT production of "Leap of Faith". Rehearsals start in March. Be on the lookout for some fun rehearsal photos!
And with that kiddos, Summer is officially over.
